The Birth of Fabricate

Busy, busy, busy

Well this blog has come a little later than I would have liked, but that can only be a good thing in that I have been CRAAAAAZY-busy getting things sorted!

First things first, I’m sure you’ve all been on the edge of your seats wondering how the wallpapering went last weekend.  Let me tell you (and I’ll try and withhold my enthusiasm when I say this) it wasn’t that bad!  There were a few hair-raising moments (namely me launching wallpapering tools across the room in a fit of peak) and to be perfectly honest the Father-In-Law used the “S” word far too many times in the space of three hours, but so far it doesn’t look too bad: –

Back to it this weekend!  I struggle for time during the week as I’m still working full-time at my other place, so everything I’m doing has to be done on evenings and weekends.  I like to think of myself as a young Deborah Meaden! 😉  The increased workload is proving even more of a struggle of late as my coffee machine has given up the ghost, which means I don’t have my constant coffee IV drip on the go.  Sad does not even begin to describe how I feel about this.

Anyway, enough of the fascinating wallpaper update and my moaning over lack of coffee, something FAN-TAS-TIC (said in the style of Craig Revel-Horwood) happened this week.  If any of you read my Facebook page, you’ll know I had my first delivery of fabric yesterday!  If you are planning on coming to the shop, let me tell you this – you’re in for a treat; in amongst the amazing pile of loveliness were gorgeous designs by Dashwood and Sevenberry, as well as some Kona Solids.  Don’t worry if you’re not planning on coming in though; I’ll just be the best dressed person in the Kirklees area with all the lovely frocks I can make with it all! 🙂  I can’t wait for the rest of it to turn up!

I’ve been busy this week choosing from a range of about 50 million buttons, which started off well but then turned into something which bore a striking resemblance to Chinese water torture towards the end!  I’ve also started to pick out the sewing patterns I’m going to have in,  so watch this space!

While I’m here, I thought I’d take this opportunity to thank all of you who have made such lovely comments about my blog.  I’m glad you’re enjoying reading about my little venture and all the absurdities that go with it!

Also, thanks ever so much to all of you who’ve signed up to my newsletter – welcome to all you Mauds!! 😉 The first issue will be winging its way to you soon.  For all you Gladyses, it’s never too late to become a Maud!

In my next post I’ll be reviewing a Tilly and the Buttons sewing pattern which I had a go at a few weeks ago and I must admit, went slightly better than the wallpapering but probably had a similar amount of cussing.

Laterz,

P
